London - Situs belanja online, Amazon, mencoba memasuki industri film dengan meluncurkan satu sistem dimana penulis naskah pemula bisa melemparkan ide-ide mereka.

Amazon sudah membuka Amazon Studios, situs yang terpisah dari situs belanja populer itu.

Amazon bertujuan memanfaatkan ketajaman penulis tak dikenal dengan menunjukkan kerja mereka kepada Warner Brothers dan membayar mereka 200.000 dolar bila itu berkembang menjadi film untuk dirilis di bioskop.

Amazon juga meminta periode khusus 18 bulan di mana penulis tidak bisa memasarkan ide mereka ke studio film lain.

Bila film cukup berhasil menghasilkan lebih dari 70 juta dolar di "box office" Amerika Serikat, penulis akan mendapat 400.000 dolar sebagai bonus.

Perusahaan sudah mengundang para pengguna untuk mengumpulkan baik itu naskah atau bagian kasar dari film mereka melalui situs Amazon Studios.

Satu panel pakar industri, termasuk sutradara, produser dan penulis naskah akan menilai pendapat untuk menemukan siapa yang mereka percaya bisa hidup secara komersial.

Panel itu termasuk Jack Epps Jr, produser film "Top Gun," dan Mike Werb yang menulis "The Mask."

"Kami berharap menemukan suara-suara yang dengan kata lain mungkin tidak didengar," Roy Price, pemimpin proyek Amazon.

Perusahaan itu akan menghabiskan total 2.7 juta dolar pada naskah terpilih antara saat ini dan akhir tahun 2011.

Bos Toyota Tunggangi Tesla Roadster

Bos Toyota ternyata penyuka mobil sport. Setidaknya dia memiliki Lotus Elise dan Tesla.

Koleksi mobil sport Presiden Toyota Motor Corporation Akio Toyoda bertambah. Bila beberapa waktu lalu dia mendapat Lotus Elise, kini dia baru menerima Tesla Roadster, mobil sport yang bertenaga listrik.

Mobil berwarna merah marun itu merupakan hadiah yang diberikan langsung oleh CEO Tesla, Elon Musk, kepada Toyoda di showroom pertama Tesla di Asia, yang berlokasi di Tokyo, Jepang.

Menurut Elon, jika Toyoda menerima dan mengemudikan Tesla Roadster, maka pasar otomotif di Jepang juga akan semakin responsif dan terbuka menerima produknya. ”Kami optimis pasar Jepang sangatlah fantastis,” kata Elon.

Mendapatkan hadiah mobil balap, sontak Toyoda langsung menjajalnya. Keunikan dari mobil cabriolet dua pintu ini tak hanya terletak pada tenaga listrik dan teknologi yang ramah lingkungan, tetapi juga inisial plat nomor kendaraan.

“Saya sangat menyukainya,” kata Toyoda yang gemar hobi balap ini.

Plat nomor kendaraan ini 520, yang memiliki arti Mei tanggal 20. Kenapa dengan 20 Mei? Tanggal itu merupakan hari penandatanganan perjanjian kerja sama pembangunan mobil listrik antara Toyota dan Tesla.

Dalam kerja sama ini, Toyota telah menggelontorkan dana pembelian saham milik Tesla sebesar US$50 juta.

Pembangunan di pabrik perakitan yang berlokasi di Palo Alto, California ini menghasilkan RAV4 yang bertenaga listrik. Menurut rencana mini SUV ini akan mulai dipasarkan pada 2012 di Amerika Utara.

OnLive Kenalkan Game Konsol untuk TV HD

OnLive, perusahaan "gaming on demand", memperkenalkan game konsol baru Kamis (18/11) dan mengatakan akan menawarkan "kualitas memukau serta spesifikasi bercita rasa seni" bagi televisi HD (high definition).

CNN menulis, game konsol itu akan tersedia saat ini untuk "pre-order" dan barang akan dikirim awal Desember. Produk itu akan dijual dengan harga 99 dolar.

Steve Perlman, CEO OnLive, mengatakan bahwa salah satu keunggulan yang mendorong penjualan besar "mikro konsol" ini adalah kemudahannya untuk dipasang.

"Pengetes (versi) Beta sudah melaporkan sejak membuka kotak hingga mulai memainkan game hanya butuh waktu kurang dari 3 menit. Saya tidak bercanda. Dan, setelah pemasangan pertama, sejak game menyala untuk memulai permainan itu hanya 15 detik," kata Perlman dalam blog.

Game konsol itu diluncurkan di Amerika Serikat (AS) bulan Juni. OnLive menggunakan sistem komputasi awan, artinya "game" disimpan pada "server" tersendiri dan dikirim secara online saat pemain "game" memanggilnya.

Sampai saat ini, para pemain menggunakan komputer desktop untuk bermain "game."

Produk baru itu muncul karena perusahaan "game" terus bergerak menuju komputasi awan di samping menjual "hard copy" "game" individual.

Pada pameran "game" E3 bulan Juni lalu, OnLive mengumumkan mereka membuat 23 "game" konsol populer, termasuk "Assassin's Creed II," "Batman: Arkham Asylum" dan "Mass Effect 2." "Game-game" itu tersedia melalui layanan langganan.

Gaikai, layanan "game" berbasis komputasi awan lain, bangkit tahun ini dan Virgin Gaming milik Sir Richard Branson menggemparkan dunia dengan memasuki luar angkasa juga.
